Residents gathered at the Township Municipal Building on Wednesday, November 30th to Light the Season in Allegheny Township.  There was plenty of hot chocolate and cookies provided by the Community Club, tree ornament crafts for the children, and Santa Claus was there for folks of all ages.  After landing in the township in his sleigh, Santa got a ride and escort to the building from the township’s two fire departments, Markle and Allegheny Township Number 1.

Supervisor Mike Korns and former Supervisor Kathy Starr started the festivities by counting down the lighting of the Christmas tree and a star atop the flagpole.  The star has special meaning because it was made by former Public Works Superintendent Shawn Kuhn, who passed away in 2021.  Supervisors James Morabito and Ren Steele also joined the festivities.

This was the first time the Township could hold the event since 2019 and we plan to do it annually. So, be sure to mark your calendars for Friday, November 17th next year and to come out with family and friends to Light the Season!
