Township Management

The Township Manager serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Township, including the role of Township Secretary and Township Treasurer. The Township Manager is responsible for implementing the policies, resolutions and ordinances adopted by the governing body of the Township which is the Board of Supervisors. The Manager is also responsible for preparing the annual budget and its implementation following the approval of the Board of Supervisors. The Township Manager is responsible for all Township staff, departments and activities and is assisted by an Administrative Assistant. The Township Manager reports to the Board of Supervisors.

Allegheny township manager receives regional award

Allegheny Township Manager, Gregory Primm was the 2010 recipient of the Joseph A. James Memorial Excellence in Local Government Award, presented by the Southwest Pennsylvania Commission  (SPC) at their annual retreat in Farmington, PA. The SPC is the official Metropolitan Planning Organization for the 10 county region and includes the City of Pittsburgh and the counties of Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Green, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland.

The Joseph A. James Award recognizes a municipal government appointed or elected official in any local government, agency, or Council of Government for a lifetime of exemplary governance or management ; improving professionalism in municipal government ; making a significant contribution to municipal government services; providing an outstanding service or facility; and innovation or outstanding leadership in a local government in a local government cause.

Joe James, a noted scholar with the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public  and International Affairs, was a lifelong advocate for intergovernmental cooperation and professionalism in local government.

Mr. Primm was nominated for the prestigious award anonymously and had his nomination reviewed by a committee of SPC members which unanimously recognized his lifetime pursuit of exemplary local government service, his successful promotion of, or assistance in developing  and implementing innovative intergovernmental cooperative ventures. Further, they recognized his markedly improving professionalism in municipal government services, providing outstanding service and leadership in local government causes
